Dental Implants in Bussigny

Implants are one of the most effective methods to replace one or more teeth.

They are made of titanium, a biocompatible material that naturally bonds with the bone (called osseointegration).

Sure Smile Aligners

The process takes place in two stages:

  1. Placement of the implant in the jawbone
  2. Attachment of the artificial tooth (crown, bridge, or denture) to the implant

The success rate is approximately 90%, with slightly better results in the lower jaw.
Smoking is one of the main factors that reduce success chances (by up to -11%).
Implants are not placed in growing children.

What if the bone is insufficient?

If there is significant bone loss, a bone graft may be necessary.
Implant placement is considered a minor intervention, usually performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation.
Sutures are removed after a few days.
Most patients need little or no painkillers.

Some techniques require a second intervention a few months later, especially if the implant is initially buried in the gum.

Implants dentaires
Avantages des implants par rapport aux autres traitements

Advantages of implants compared to other treatments:

  • Stable fixation, unlike removable prostheses
  • No neighboring teeth need to be shaved, unlike with bridges
  • Resistance to cavities (but not to gum disease around the implant)

Dr. Popescu will show you how to properly clean your implants and natural teeth to maintain perfect hygiene.

The cost is higher because:

  • Implants are custom-made, sterilized, and require thorough planning
  • Part of the work is done in an external laboratory outside the clinic

Dental prostheses (dentures)

Prostheses can replace one or all teeth:

  • Partial prostheses: replace a few teeth
  • Complete prostheses : replace all teeth in the jaw
They stay in place thanks to suction and muscle control

It is normal for a complete prosthesis to feel strange at first, but with Dr. Popescu's support, most patients adapt quickly.

Partial dentures – Materials

  • Acrylic alone or metal and acrylic
  • Sometimes reinforced by metal clasps attached to remaining teeth
  • Some teeth can be prepared with small depressions (rests) to better support the prosthesis
  • Metal alloy prostheses are thinner, more comfortable, and more hygienic

It is possible to add teeth to a metal prosthesis if other teeth are lost later.

Prothèses dentaires (dentiers)

Hygiene and maintenance

It is essential to clean dentures and remaining natural teeth carefully to prevent plaque and its harmful effects.
